For me this touching episode could have only been made better had the BBC approached Brian Wilde to make a brief cameo apperance during Compos funeral and say a few fitting lines This episode was tactfully written with just the right balance of light hearted moments against the backdrop of the sad loss of a much loved character However in my opinon this should have been the last episode and final series of Last Of The Summer Wine The BBC should never have allowed it to limp on without Bill Owen.

My Mom and I love this series to point of skiping the nightly news. To watch the boys get into another adventure, and a bit of mischief :). This, was beautiful.

Blubbered all the way through this part, these old boys felt like part of my family, that final line had me in pieces.
Rest easy Bill.

This was such a sad time for the series. Clegg being a gentleman and offering a place to sit is sweet.
Very nice.

@mentalsun "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach. Also often played at weddings.

D'x R.I.P Compo, you were awesome xx

I grew up watching Last of the Summer Wine with my grandparents on a Sunday night so it was a big part of our lives and Compo was always our favourite character.
I was holding back tears all through this episode but when Clegg said "We thought you'd like another wander through the hills old son" I broke down. It suddenly hit home that we'd never see this character again.
I have to say that the "Summer Wine" song and the addition of the choir to the end theme is a beautiful touch.

I knew Bill Owen died during the run, and I saw the white coverall moment in the special on the 95 series DVD. I was not expecting something so moving. I was especially touched by the moments between Juliette Kaplan and Peter Sallis. You know that had to hurt Peter as an actor to lose his partner of 30 years. Probably his best performance.
