On march 26th every year, one community in Kiambu County's Lari constituency commemorates a little known massacre that played a huge role in the country independence struggle.
The Lari massacre of 1953 is the single largest massacre of the Mau Mau uprising in which hundreds of Mau Mau loyalists and colonial collaborators lost their lives.
and 58 years later, experiences from the massacre still divide some people in Lari.

  • How the hell call the mau mau killing 90-200 home guards a massacre and not the home guards, colonial loyalist and the white themselves going on a revenge mission that left more than 3,000 people dead???? There was no massacre on 26 march 1952, the real massacre was on 28 march 1952.Long live sons and daughters of the mau mau!!!!!
