@Bugadel Yeah, there's been quite a few, and certainly Jamie (with the 2nd Doctor) was one of my favourite companions. Plus there was Harry, Turlough, Ben, Steven, Ian etc

I think a hero, much more so than an anti-hero, is a lonely man. There's no way for that kind of character to keep a relationship with anything, or anyone, and still be a hero. The point this scene drives home, I think more than any other scene in DW, is that The Doctor's life basically returns back to the same old thing -- him by himself in the TARDIS.

bernard gribbons what an actor he played along side some of the greats in his time peter sellers etc done some fine acting and a fine narrator aswell but never a prouder moment then this scence two great actors powerfull words beutifull music how can you top that for a ending, i belive its called poetry in motion

so sad lol - it was really upsetting to watch that at the end of Journeys End, just the Doctor alone in the tardis with his thoughts :'(
this is sad. feel very sorry for the Doctor, alone in the universe again. Who thinks Wilf should become the new companion?

in the previous season finales something always happened for the Doctor to focus on instead, but this time he has time to feel sad and lonely :(
