@Prence I also have a 40" samsung HDTV for $750 and the speakers are just terrible, luckly i someone gave me a cheap but good home theater system and it sounds great. You should also buy a cheap home theater system

@TheMuskwa007 I can on my tv. I have Altec Lansing speakers hooked to the RCA jacks out of my TV and the TV volume controls the external speakers. I just turned up the speakers to the volume I want and forget about them. Works really great.

@marcvie9 I bought a westinghouse 42" tv and only paid $400. So yes my tv was cheap, and being that cheap, I didn't expect it to sound like a $1500 home theater system. But I'm still wondering why better speakers aren't put into HDTV's

I just bought a 42" lcd hdtv and I had to use computer speakers to get any type of ok sound. Why the hell don't tv manufacturers put better speakers in their tv's.
