In the Hardware store they sell a metal sheet used for construction that has the same shape and your tool. This sheet can be shpaed and put how ever you like. hope it helps

roll out a slab of clay about 4 to 6 inch wide and about 6 to 12 inch long and make your scales in to and let it set up a bit and get a rubber mold starter kite there not to high around $25.00 then pore a then mold over the scales so you can just cut it to the shape and size you want it and press the scales that way? hope it helps

Have you considered doing one representative snake with all that gorgeous hand work, then casting it in plaster to press coils into? Love that hog!
