@KitaCamui Even fairies can be scary. There's a Scottish fairy called a Knucklavee that's basically a horse with fins for hooves, a human torso growing out of its back, and no skin.

If anything Meyer's "vampires" should become old and ugly in the sunlight, since they're so beautiful because it really makes no sense as to why they can't go out in the sun. I'm sure no one could tell that they were vampires if they went out in the sun and if they sparkled I'd think that they were doing some sort of art project or something. I mean if she's rejecting the traditional legend then she should've at least chose that route instead of giving them practically no weaknesses.

@KitaCamui Please don't disgrace the Fey by comparing them to the SMeyer's monstrosities. They have about as much in common with the Cullens and the others as real vampires do.

It's an insult to the fairies to call the Cullens sparkle-fairies or any similar name. Actually one thing I will give Disney's Sleeping Beauty; Maleficent is very similar to some of the folklore of the true fairies.And yes, she is a fairy, not a witch.

I hate the sparkles and the fact that they have no weaknesses.the only things that can kill them are other vamps or shapeshifters. If nothing (including the sun) can hurt them and they don't even need to sleep why haven't they just taken over the world already?in other stories where vamps don't burn in the sun there's always some weaknesses. but this idiots vamps are perfect. RIDICULOUS.

Let the Right In is an awesome movie.

If anything, I believe that Meyerpires are more like fairies, because fairies of some European legends could shimmer in sunlight and/or drink blood.
