The "DO NOT'S" for your kit

I totally hear ya on making a crap kit sound nice with good heads. A friend of mine (actual drummer, I'm NOT) bought a kids drum set for $50 and we put new heads on it, put a decent kick pedal on it and some good cymbals and besides the "snare" which is kind of a joke, it sounds pretty cool! It's got some sweet tiny headed toms that are like super high pitched and a nice jazzy hi kick drum. It's pretty neat.

ROFL That was funny I'd probably be enraged too if I saw that

Actually, if your head is pulled it does help to poke a tiny hole in near the rim with a needle. Not big enough to put a drumstick through though. Its to get rid of that nasty thud type sound and let the resonance out alittle.

That kid you're talking about sounds like a troll to me, but it's great that you have a video up just in case someone took the dude seriously.

yup, pretty common sense stuff

Great video....maybe turn the TV off or at least mute it next time:)

Guys, the video he's taking about was deleted. I think the kid realized how stupid his video was, and just got rid of it. I can't believe this kid did anything like this with his kit... it horrifies me to think people will toss a huge kit worth hundreds of dollars out in the mud and grass, poke holes in the drum heads, put their sticks in the air vents, break the hoops, and overtighten their cymbals. . . listen to this guy! His tips are common sense, but they'll save your kits life.
