Once the stage is set it is time to begin the prayer.
Lectio Divina has been likened to "Feasting on the Word." The four parts are first taking a bite (Lectio), then chewing on it (Meditatio). Next is the opportunity to savor the essence of it (Oratio). Finally, the Word is digested and made a part of the body (Contemplatio).[4]

@MystSilverDragon We are of god and of his essence. God is definitely in YOU. How could he not be. When mystics say they are god they do not mean that they are the God head. They mean they are actually apart of the God unit. And you are right; the concept of God being outside of our universe has no purpose. If we cannot experience god within us what use is believing in something beyond our understanding; beyond our grasp. You will be doomed to fail in that sense.

If meditation isnt focused on GOD alone, then it has zero point at all. we can all focus upon ourselves easily enough, meditation isnt required for that, but it can be required, if we cant see beyond ourselves. Many new aged religions/teachings instruct that we are GODS ourselves. Nothing could possibly be further than the truth. If these new aged teachings were correct then GOD (outside our world/time/understanding) would no longer have any purpose. This is, where these teachings lead.

@ajhilger Also keep in mind that before the New Covenant the heathen nations were not at all under the protection of the LORD. God was an enemy of the nations, we are only given mercy through the work of Christ Jesus and even then only because of the disbelief of the jews.
