  • Normal infantry pace. You should hear it at light infantry speed.

  • Light Infantry/Rifles/Ghurka Regiments of the British Army march at 140 paces to the minute.

Guards and regiments of the line march at 120 ppm.

    Double time is 180 ppm.

    Slow march is 60 ppm.

    Regards

  • this was named after my granddad for being the oldest piper in the band

  • to an earlier post the Guards don't march slower they march at the speed the tune should be played at everyone else gets it wrong.

  • hear the pipes and anything is possible. outnumbered? a wee dram or two and the pipes will see us through

  • My Uncle, Sar-Major' Rab' Adair was the Drum Major of the H.L.I. a genereation ago now. I am in my 39th yr of Military Band service and would just like to say.. I hope the band Played this Medley at Auntie Jean's and Uncle Rab's wedding.,, warts and all.

This medley is played at ''patrol tempo' which is the tempo of ''yor''(Mm=96 ) as displayed by the Presidents own guard Fife and drum corps, during some ceremonies. xx

No use marching the lads to battle , just to get there shaaaged laddies !!

  • @Songsmirth The Guhrka were and still are a Special Branch of the British Army who hail from Nepal and the surrounding regions. Phenominally strong and well trained, they consolidate areas that the British Army control.

  • me encanta!, aun que casi me quede sorda. pero no importa, muy bonita cancion.

  • Thanks Z for sharing all these with us. :) What is a "Ghurka" regiment? Why do the guards march slower?

  • regardless of how fast or slow they march, no troops marching to this stuff can ever be stopped !

  • if you hear the Scottish Bagpipes roaring you better get out of the way or else...

  • @Scipionic1941 thanks man, much appreciated
