I will try to help a little, I hope I can translate properly. The translation of the first one given for mvwhit is accurate. The second one says: "Anyone who has a cristal roof, shouldn't throw stones to the neighbor's (roof), we could meet later in the journey". The last one is beautiful: "Looking for consolation I approach to a green pine tree, but green as he was, he cried when I cried"... In spanish green also mean immature... Did I conjugate "cry" well? I hope so...

the song is no more about a cloth than Aesop's "the Tortoise and the Hare" is about a turtle and a bunny. It is a folksy morality tale, and could be sung with a smile as easily as we might smile while singing, "Who will buy the cow, if you give the milk away?" Which most adults know has nothing to do with cows, or milk.....

the song about the cloth is not a lament! And it is not about a cloth any more than Aesop's "Tortoise and the Hare" is about a turtle and a bunny. It is a Spanish style simple morality lesson fable set to a charming tune. It can be sung with a smile as easily as we might sing with a smile "You might not sell the cow, if you give the milk away." Which, if you are a grown up, you probably know is not about a cow or milk.

@billyguns2 Are you saying that you don't believe that they got together and jointly worked out how the piece would be performed? This may be a lament for the merchant but for the lucky customer, if the stain was small or hidden, a smile might indeed be fitting.

Moore's tempo for the first song is ridiculously fast, unstylish and insensitive; Berganza triumphs in spite of it. Ditto for the second song; Moore is just pounding away. Hard to ruin #3, although I heard Miguel Zanetti do a much finer job of it for Caballe. Berganza sings it well but has a silly smile on her face for this great lament!
