(continued) .. endorse their beliefs? There is potential for fanaticism in every group. Moreover, claiming that there is 'potential' for fanaticism in Islam as a reason to assume that Islam altogether is a fanatical religion is quite silly. Yes, there is potential for extremism only if uneducated, unqualified random folks wrongly interpret the Qur'an that way (which are a minority) The scholars consensus is that murder of innocents and suicide are prohibited.

@AustraliaProud: Post-9/11 yes, but before that the words Islam and terrorism were hardly associated. "Muslim terrorism is commonplace": The media has had a wonderful role in establishing that perception in the West. Many other religions and nations have committed terrorist attacks in the past and are doing so as I type this but of course, these are not explicitly called 'terrorism' unless a Muslim is involved. What about British nationalist groups such as EDL & BNP that have used violence to

@AustraliaProud: I just posted the verses that condemn suicide and murder; as you could see, it wasn't in a riddle. It was clear as ice, if someone doesn't understand that then I don't know what they will understand. Yes, Islam means peace through submission to God though I don't see how that contributes to terrorism.

Are you now trying to justify the abhorrent actions of one group, by citing the abhorrent actions of another?
The point you are trying to make is yet again irrelevant and ambiguous.

There have even been terrorist attacks carried out by animal rights activists. Does that mean that ALL animal rights activists are evil and manipulative? Does that mean that belief in animal rights will inevitably lead to terrorist attacks??
This is not only the case with Islam, it is the case with any ideology, be it religious, political, environmental etc.

Yes, any group can have fanatical elements, but Muslim terrorism is commonplace, and this gives the impression that the potential for fanaticism within Islam is higher than many other groups.

"scripture is almost entirely irrelevant"
Scripture is the basis of any religion and thus is THE most relevant aspect of a religion if you want to make a statement like "Slaughtered by 'Islam'".

I do not accept that.
All scripture is written in riddles and anachronistic language. Islam is a highly submissive and dominating religion and it is easy to make the scripture fit the political ideology to justify violence without conscience. Scripture is not the point here, it's the interpretation of scripture and the drip feeding of political fanaticism towards vulnerable and insecure people that can turn them into submissive murderers.

Of course I sympathise with the people who have lost their lives and their families, I am not some heartless person who doesn't have feelings. It is also important to help educate people about war in Islam, both Muslims and non-Muslims. Especially in the political atmosphere we are in today where Extremist Muslims who do not understand the Qur'an use verses as justification of murder and non-Muslims also use the very same verses and say that the Qur'an tells Muslims to kill non-Muslims.
