Selected scenes from a trip to the Baltic States in June, 2007. The Latvia portion of the trip is on a separate video. Motive power types seen include 2TE10 (Belarus run-thru power) TEP60 (both Lithuanian and Belarussian) 2TE116 from Russian Railways, Transoil and Spacecom, TEM-2 and TEM-2M, TEP70 and M62/2M62. The American GE C30/36-7 units imported and regauged for operations in Estonia are also shown.

  • Check my YouTube page, there is a separate video just for Latvia.

    File was too big and would not fit as one vidoe given size limitations.

  • Some of the locos in this video have a russian copy of the FM opposed piston engine!

    U can recognise the sound aswell.

    they also have an alco copy!

  • Actually, the Soviet locos with FM and Alco ancestries were the main thing that attracted me to the Baltic states in the first place.

  • I've seen many of the old Soviet era trains and subway trains while in Kiev, Ukraine vary intresting to watch them.

  • The video point is a look at old Soviet trains. I like old Soviet trains. I have read about the Lithuanian past, and visited cultural sites. I have been to Vilnius and seen the skyscrapers. But when I take video it is of trains. Skyscrapers and castles do not move and make noise and smoke, trains do. Much better for video. If you do not like trains, then do not watch my videos. And I appreciate you not calling them shit! Thank You.
