@eldervinnie The point is that I was talking about in the game, not real life. Besides that, as I said, there are other weapons made for the same purpose that serve said purpose much better.
Also, the fact that nobody seems to have realised that my original comment was more or less a joke baffles me.
PS: The only differences between the semi-auto FAL and the automatic FAL you're refering to are that the select fire is switched and they have different barrels. They're otherwise the same gun.

@Uberriffic There are 2 kind of FAL's if you want to call it that.. an automatic and a semi automatic.. the semi automatic has a longer barrel and is made for long range shots.. the one with the shorter barrel is for "spraying" and close range.. The barrels had something to do with the heat of the gasses thats why the long barrel can't fire automatic..
