  • hmmm, perhaps there's a lot of shame or stigma attached to abortion because...maybe it's a shameful act? Just because there's shame associated with something doesn't mean that it's an obstacle to be overcome. Maybe shame is there to warn us about evil, like the shame a thief feels after stealing something.

  • Shocking...

  • @mdillybar I happen to have two adult boys, but if I had a daughter. I would not devalue her as a person when she becomes pregnant. She would have a right to protect her own body just like everyone else.

  • @Fishqueen1972 I hope you don't think of your children as "genetic material". And I hope you don't take out your misplaced anger on them either.

  • @mdillybar I disagree and I think forcing a raped 10 yr old to give birth is disgusting. It is disrespect to her and disrespect to the human intellect. I think if a 10 yr old dies or has extreme health or mental problems from being forced into child birth then the person or people who perpetrated this injustice should be punished. I won't respond anymore to people like you who value non-suffering genetic material over that of a suffering raping child. Goodbye you disgusting person.

  • @Fishqueen1972 Also, the chances of a 10yr old getting pregnant from being raped are less than 5%. The trauma of the attack starts up a stress response which inhibits the body's energy from going to processes that aren't immediately necessary, such as digestion and reproduction. So especially for the millions of other reasons why women get abortions, they should be illegal. Although in this unlikely case we are talking about, it should not be legal either.

  • @Fishqueen1972 I've researched this and you are right that the child can't feel pain at first until 9 wks, but it does't change the fact that the child is alive and human in those weeks and is being killed by abortion. We have laws against murder, but no law against abortion. To me that makes no sense. A 10yr old can give her child up for adoption, and by this the mother would be protecting her by stopping her from making a decision she might regret. The right to stop her means stopping murder.

  • @mdillybar (2nd post)---If a mother chooses to have her 10 yr old rape victim daughter to have an abortion then what gives your the right to stop her. All the mother is doing is protecting her 10 yr old daughter. And if you force her to stay pregnant and she dies then you should be charged with homocide.

  • @mdillybar Both the 2 yr old and 3 yrd olds can feel pain & fear. The unborn can feel pain at about 20 wks gestation. I am speaking about an embryo/fetus around 6 to 9 wks gestation. It is not developed the way a baby or child is and it cannot feel pain or fear. A 10 yr old can feel pain & fear and her life is precious too. A 10 yr old is not mature enough to choose the pregnancy either.

  • @Fishqueen1972 What makes it ok to do it right away and not later? When exactly does the baby start to be able to suffer if an abortion occurs? Saying there is a difference between an embryo right away and a baby in the womb at 5mths is like saying there is a difference between a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old. The only difference is age. There is no difference about whether the child is alive or not. And a girl that young is probably not mature enough to know what she's doing by getting an abortion.
