@johnduckable456 He probably should have been Belgian sportsman of the year, I can't think of any other prominent Belgian sportsmen, although I don't know much about Soccer or Golf. But come on - check out some of Glock's power-oversteer overtaking manoeuvres: /watch?v=yTY3ucCXnuU

He has some superb car control! Virgin has built their team around him completely for that reason. Too bad the Pirellis neutered him a bit this year.

@Wibbahh yeah, you're right. I'm not saying he's that good, but i just think he's better than glock. But those are individual opinions ;). What worries me more in fact , is that not a single belgian company is interested in sponsoring F1/d'ambrosio. In fact, F1 is not that popular in Belgium. D'ambrosio wasn't even elected for sportman of the year...

@johnduckable456 Standings arent a good comparison of drivers in the bottom teams- Trulli is above Heikki for Christ's sake. Glock out quali'd Jerome a lot and there was very little development by Virgin during the season so the cars would be equal. Ambro had a slight advantage in finishing positions, but broken front wings etc skew the relevance. He doesn't attract sponsorship _because_ he is a fairly average driver. He did nothing special this season, I would hardly say he did better than Timo

@Wibbahh really, check the championship standings of 2011... D'ambrosio is in front of Glock... And those are the official fia results... And I tell you something more, for the seat of second driver, there was a contest between D'ambrosio and a Dutch guy (Van der garde). Van der Garde had more money than D'ambrosio...

@johnduckable456 D'ambrosio was a pay-driver (google it), he has had no particularly stand out results in GP2 or other lower formula, and only out qualified Glock 5 times. I get the strong feeling Glock has just lowered his intensity - he is stranded in a shit team and he is the one with serious talent. Nothing against D'ambrosio, didn't expect much from him and he was very good, maybe he performed better than Timo on occasion, but he's not better.

@Wibbahh I'm not sure if you know much about F1... D'Ambrosio was better than Glock.. No discussions possible about that. In the beginning of the season, glock was simple slower than a rookie. And half way the season it was a 'public secret' that glock had the better car. And still, D'ambrosio was often faster.

And I also think that Martin Brundle literally said 'too bad that probably next season, D'ambrosio's seat will be taken by a pay-driver, because that boy has talent' ;)

@Mo0z3d He was not better than Glock. Timo is a much better driver and although he had a very bad season by his standards, he still out-raced and out-qualified Jerome most of the time. Jerome did hold his own though. I also never heard him speak the entire season on TV

Don't hate him, he did what he had to do this season. He finished almost every race in a crappy car and was even better then his teammate.

He has the talent but no money, he's not driving for them anymore because someone else threw some cash on the table.. :/
