This is a modified CFL circuit using only one Darington transistor as the switching device. It takes the place of the 2 transistors that I used in my last video. The system runs on 12 volts. A car ignition coil is used to raise the pulsed voltage high enough to illuminate the bulb.

  • i dont understand the circuit diagram.

  • rroge5----Sorry that I didn't show a circuit diagram for this. This was quite a long time ago but basically these are the ignition coil CFL driver circuits that were from the Aromaz project. The transistor oscillates the primary of the ignition coil and the secondary lights the bulb. I got feed back to the transistor base by wrapping a wire around the ignition coil. It was a very simpe design. My voice sounds different because I had a bad cold.

  • arh thanks. i was starting to think it was a R C (resistor capacitor) timing circuit. do you recall how many turns the feedback coil was?

  • rroge5----I do remember how many turns. It was 33 turns of 30 ga magnetic wire around the base of the ignition coil. Why 33 turns? No reason. I did it to honor Tesla who like 3s. lol. It worked good.

  • oh cool, how do you remove enamel from enamel wire?. i think im gona try nail polish remover or paint thinner.

  • rroge5---Nail polish remover shoud work. It is basically acetone.

  • So cool man, you have done it all man!

  • Do the transistors get hot/warm at all?

  • Cool, a home made inverter circuit! I'm surprised the batterys can keep it going for so long.

  • your voice is different,in this vid from the newer ones.
