Second 10 minutes of HD Video from my 2008 widescreen DVD "Thurston OO" showcasing the multi-award winning 4mm scale exhibition layout of Ely and District Model Railway Club. Modelled on the prototype of this (still open) Suffolk station near Bury St Edmunds as it was in the late 1950's, the layout took us more than 10 years to research and build. The complete 20 minute film took me 6 weeks to film and edit (using Sony HC1 / Vegas) so look out for Part 1, the first 10 minutes, on YouTube too. You can buy the DVD at our shows (only 5 Quid on DVD and 10 Quid for .m2t HDV version). All proceeds to Ely MRC to help fund our modelling.

More information about Thurston OO, it's exhibition tour dates in 2011-12-13, Ely & District MRC / our shows and other layouts here on our brand new 2011 Club website http://www.elymrc.org.uk

Dec 2011 Update - See a new film focussing on the rolling stock that runs on Thurston here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc_Frt9EkBI

More information about Shooting Image Ltd (now all professional Full HD Sony PMW-EX3 / Canon 7D / Apple FCS and Adobe Production Premium based) and our affordable corporate video, web video and special interest DVD work in Cambridge, East Anglia and beyond here: http://www.shootingimage.co.uk

Enjoy! Andy

  • what manufacturer/model is that bridge at 01:43

  • @AWETDUCK All the structures (buildings, bridges, even the trees) is scratch built as this is a model of a real location!

  • Like the layout. Like that last bit of music too.

  • @tomstickland Thanks! That was 'Time You'll Never Get Back' by Williamson. You can find a lot more excellent music by them on Jamendo.

  • Yes, I found that and downloaded the whole album.

  • @tomstickland Great! Williamson have produced some excellent music - good to see I've helped them find another fan!

  • @AndyKWilkinson kl, looks really good

  • I absolutely love Thurston layout - it is probably in the top 4 of my all-time favourite layouts!! Great work guys for buidling such an exquisite layout: it is really worth all that time you put into it. I hope to be going to Harrogate next year - partly just to see your lovely layout in person (hopefully you shall be there!) By the way, where did you purchase that wonderful Pacific with rear tender and smoke sheild? It really is magnaficant, although it's probably kit-built or scratch-built! MD
