Home movies and news footage of Dakota Southern Railway from 1985-1991. DSRC began running trains on state-owned ex-Milwaukee Road track in 1985 on the Napa-Platte, South Dakota branch (82 miles). It then expanded in 1987-88 to the Mitchell-Kadoka line (187 miles) and abandoned the Platte line in 1989.
@myspotdogcorgi EDIT- I was able to talk with Alex for a while today at an auction and he said that the new owners of the line are interested in the trackage as far as Wagner. Ground has also been broken for one of the grain handling facilities.

@lima709 There has been talk of grain transloading facilities around Kimball, capable of loading 110 car unit trains, with track to be restored as far as Chaimberlain. As for the Platte line, trains will never run again.(to much track pulled up) Although I believe recently some cars have been stored around Tyndall.

Awesome video coverage! What's the latest and greatest on the DSRC? Have they started running grain trains again?
