im still very interested in growing rock melon. i have been quite busy as i have a very large property to take care of in the summer.right now im putting my watermelons and cantelope in the ground and designing a wind screen. im hoping i understand the melon in general by the end of season.then hopfully try rocks next year.i will be on skype shortly thanks again
Just started 65 mounds. I'm hoping to have 215 more by the weekend. I growing, Royal Goldens, Desert Kings, Orangeglo, Crimson Sweet, Yellow Shipper and Haikaido. I'm using Bat Gauno, Mexican and Seabird Gauno. Do you think I'll have success. I sold everything to get 8 acres of land. Now I'm broke lol but I'm determined to succeed. I'm going to shoot a vid in the morning. I have to hook up a water pump to a well. thanks

@guidalco Just Google How to grow square watermelons. I have not attempted this procedure but must give it a go next growing season. It is winter time now in New Zealand. Thank you for your interest. Wishing you every success with your new venture. :-))

@zombification123 I lived in an area in New Zealand that had a short growing season and used cloches. Hoops over individual rows with clips to hold vented plastic cover on. This worked very well. Formed a micro climate that rockmelons thrive in. You need to put up wind net also if you get windy weather or your block has no shelter belts. Are you on Skype?
