Sleeping on a rabbit twice the size of myself
Waking up to screaming, I was waking up in hell
Mom called the neighbor, she was crying out for help
Dad was on the bathroom floor exactly where he fell
I could hear the sirens coming . take care of the dog
They loaded up the stretcher and they took him from our house
The doctor said, Its wait and see more like cry and pray
They rushed him in to surgery and I think about that day
What if you had gone? What if you had died?
What if you werent standing here by the firelight?
Whod of taught me how to play guitar, shoot the eight ball, or drive a car
Sat by mom at my football games, or take me fishing in the pouring rain
Walked my sister down the aisle?
We moved our family room into that hospital bed
I could hardly recognize you with that scar on your head
I feel a little foolish not to realize it then
Youre the glue in this family and the best of what I am
What if you had gone? What if you had died?
What if you werent standing here by the firelight?
