Another great song from 1980s Aus group.
This delightful video (come out and play indeed!) was filmed in the Blue Mountains (west of Sydney), mainly around Evans Lookout and Mount Wilson. It was directed by Mark Foster and produced by Sheridan Jobbins and Amanda Keller. Evidentially the beautiful ferns seen in the clip have since been destroyed by bush fire!
Members of the band while signed with Virgin Records:
Mark Foster - vocals and guitar
Geoffrey Datson - guitar
Phil Beckett - drums
Iain Colley - Percussion
Jerome McClintock - bass
Singles produced by - Norman Mighell

Many thanks to JSM2420 for all the band and video details.

  • Dear Mouldytone, I've been searching high and low for this song for ages, so thank you so much for posting it. I remember hearing this on JJJ and thinking "My God, who is this band, singing about going camping?" The last time I think I heard it was at the Chevron Hotel in Kings X in 1984(?) when Samurai Trash supported Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, (one of the loudest gigs I've ever heard).

Can you imagine a song and clip like this being produced these days? Some innocence has been lost.

  • Thanks for commenting on the clip. I think you`re right about the chances of a song and clip like this being produced these days.

Too much fun and not enough production!

  • Wow. Thank you.

    Rolls.

  • Thanks guys - a song that always brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. My wife and I always inaugurated our camping trips by playing the mix tape that starts with this song. It's been our holiday theme song for 20+ years now and we still adore it -- memories of many happy days. Onya!

  • for those interested, Samurai Trash have our own youtube channel with some videos of a recent reunion gig. We als have a facebook page and myspace page (samuraitrashband).
