At least the "new Vegemite" is following in its big brother's footsteps.
When Vegemite first came out there was already a similar product out - Marmite. So the advertising geniuses back then came up with the name of Pawill and produced the advertising slogan of "Marmite but Pawill." It also failed. So it was relaunched later as Vegemite.
And its been an Australian icon ever since
