Well this is obviously an attempt to derail the debate on the issues. The reporter who asked that question should have been shot. But I think Obama's answer was correct. I think Gates was justified in his reaction to the police. People need to understand that the Cops of today are a bunch of brutes. They don't keep law and order but they help with the disorder. They had no business to arrest that man in his own home. Period. And the people who called the police were ratially profiling.

You have to look at the history of the Police brutality and all racial profiling situations that have happened in America. Rodney King, Gena 6, etc. Plus after the Civil Rights movement when Blacks who moved up tried to move into the "White Neighborhoods" would face serious ridicule from their neighbors. I mean come on! That woman who called the police on him needed to be fined. A black man has trouble getting into his own house and all of a sudden he is a burglar? PLEASE, give me a break!

This is really hard to follow.
Obama has a prime time conference on health care.
Despite "not knowing all the facts", he offers support to his race-baiting friend who screamed racism at cops who were just doing their job.
Obama could have just said "no comment" and kept the focus on his health care plan. Instead he stokes racial division and fuels anti-police sentiment.
It wasn't the republicans who put race-baiting gates in the news. It was Obama.

What Obama said was that there was no evidence that there was any racial component but that it's stupid to arrest a man for being in his own home.

The whole process of driving Prof. Gates to the police station for and then dropping the "charges" was stupid.

There may be a racial aspect, however, to the way the Republican Party has reacted to the story. A black officer who arrested, say, Henry Kissinger for being in his own home might have been fired by now.
