NICE JOB MAN NICE JOB!!.
I been splitting wood for a few years and the hardest ones I came across were hard ash and those damn things make WORK OUT OF ME lol!!
Takes me maybe 20 min to split an 8inch wide broad lumber if its hard ash and I hate those damn things LOL!.

I have wedges, but rarely use them ,just a 6 pound maul and if it is too stubborn I stand it on end and get things started with a chainsaw . Just saw down a few inches ,do all the knotted ones at the same time. Then I shut off the saw and a couple licks with the maul and they give in . I have allways loved splitting wood, good time to think and great exercise .

my friend went to the mountains for about 2 weeks to chop wood to train for boxing, when he came back his back was so muscular. you must have a very muscular back aswell.

Ah, nothing like a nice warm fire with a beer and a tube of Ben Gay after a day of splitting wood.

just make sure that the axe blade face is flat on contact and it will sail though.
my cousin is in grade 5-6 and he can chop a log in one swing if the face/ edje is flat on contact

Isn't it better to have your wood cut before the freeze sets in? Just saying...

I love to buck and split wood in the winter,it gives you something to do instead of just staying in the house being lazy!!

what are you a lvl 99 woodcutter

@satinsk8er The force of the blow compared to the volume of the big log is much less than for a small log. It takes multiple strikes or a wedge to get the job done.

is it better to let the wood dry out first or split it when the wood is fresh?

If you spit it when it is green, it will dry faster, so it will be ready to burn sooner.
