FRED THOMPSON: The issues of Iraq and Afghanistan. It causes me to conclude what we've concluded in times fast when faced with difficulty. Good guys win, bad guys lose. And that's what's gotta happen today. Where Iran one day, is getting ready to take over the Middle East. And now the next day where maybe they don't have nuclear weapons after all. My friends, I would suggest to you we be very skeptical of these new revelations and assessments that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program. Because what they have done, is for years now they have developed what they call a peaceful weapons program. For peaceful nuclear activity. The only problem with that is when you enrich uranium, you're enriching potentially for both peaceful and warlike purposes. And they're enriching uranium still, right along. The question is, what is their intent at the end of the day? Is it going to stay for peaceful purposes? For energy? Or are they going to just turn a screw just within a short period of time, they'll have a weapons program again. So it's not where are they today, it's what is their intention tomorrow? We have to be very mindful and very watchful. There are no easy ideas and easy solutions in this international world that we live in. It's all too convenient now to all of the sudden just discover that they don't have any attentions of having a nuclear weapons program. Our allies now can say, well, we can relax. We won't have to help you any. We don't need sanctions on Iran any more. We can keep trading with Iran. And enriching our own coffers. Our politicians. It's beneficial to us. The democrats now argue with each other because they feel like we've been too tough on Iran. See, they're good guys after all. This new information proves nothing. Other than we need to be very mindful and very watchful. And very concerned about our own intelligence capabilities of properly assessing this. And that secondly, even if we are assessing it correctly, and they currently are not intending on a weapons program, what is their intention going to tomorrow and the day after tomorrow? Once these sanction have disippated, and once everybody has relaxed. That's the kind of world we live in. And we're going to need strong, steady, experienced leadership at the helm as we wade through these treaturous waters in the future. A part of the national security issue, it has to do with illegal immigration.
