the balloon will go up probably 200 - 300' or so before detonation. it just makes an awesomely massive thunderously loud bang!!! ive done it and it was worth it once in a blue moon. but at night in a closely knit neighborhood around the middle of summer and everyone had all their windows open.......yaa, not such a good idea since a draft caught it and it only drifted up about 50' above the houses then bang?? half the neighborhood needed clean undies i think!

you know whats awesome?? if you fill a large balloon with hydrogen and then you take a green waterproof fireworks wick and insert it up into the balloon about 1" inside then take a small office size roll of scotch tape to wrap around the base of the balloon and around the wick where it meets the mouthpiece tightly with tape, you want the wick to be at least 8" long, find a nice big open place away from airports and houses, light the wick and let it go. it will make a nasty bang ;)
