I've had a few people ask me how to clean a chain...mostly girls...so here is how I clean mine.

I know there are a few different ways, and my moto jargon is probably not perfect, but this is pretty basic and something everyone should know how to do. It the easiest way to get the longest life out of your chain and sprocket.

You should lube it every 300-500 miles, and do a full clean and lube such as I am doing here every 3,000 miles, but my chain is starting to get old and kinked, so I do it anytime it seems dirty or dry.

And let me repeat, YES, I am aware my chain has a gazillion kinks and it's loose! I've gotten a new once since this video was made.

  • Hey nica! Thnx for the tips.. cleaned my chain today. I tried to get that grunge brush, but they didnt have it at the shop. So i used an old toothbrush... it JUST BARELY made it til i was done.

  • @trickstd83 just get any paddock stand, as long as its a proper motobike one its doesn't have to be the best brand

  • ummm i just looked on amazon for this pitbull stand u speak of.......200 bucks?! HELL NO!

  • nice to see a girl that does something.

  • what if my bike is belt driven?

  • WARNING! NEVER put your bike in gear and let the wheel spin while cleaning your chain, your finger might get caught in between the chain and the sprocket and it will cut your finger off.

  • Waiting 3,000 miles to CLEAn the chain is way too long........I clean mine every 800-1000 miles and it's DIRTY! I lube every 200-300 miles and I get 30,000 miles out of my chains!

Also it's better to clean/lube the chain when it's hot right after a ride, the dirt comes off much easier and more of it comes off.

  • "Just invest in a tire stand, get a pit bull they're really good".....Then she does not use a pit bull stand LOL

  • good job
