Evansville's Ryan Ford scores a power-play goal in the final minute of the 1st period, giving the IceMen a 2-1 lead against the West Michigan Blizzard in Game 5 of the AAHL Davidson Cup Finals on April 15, 2010. Ford posted a hat trick in the game, and Evansville went on to win the game 4-3 to clinch the 2010 AAHL Davidson Cup Championship on home ice in front of a spirited sell-out crowd at Swonder Ice Arena in Evansville, Indiana.
Evansville won the Best-of-7 championship series 4-games-to-1 over the Blizzard, after eliminating the Battle Creek Revolution in the Best-of-5 semi-final round by a 3-games-to-1 margin. The IceMen won the championship in their second season of operation, giving the city of Evansville its first-ever professional hockey title and its first professional sports championship since the Evansville Otters took the Frontier League baseball crown in 2006.
