Footage of some 'old friends' at this years Hastings Vintage Bus And Car Rally held at The Oval. While I would in no way call myself a vintage bus, car or motorcycle fan, to be around so many passionate and enthusiastic people you somehow 'get into it' yourself on the day! I went initially because a lot of the vintage cars especially bring back many happy memories of my childhood going Stock Car Racing with my Dad in the 70's.
Who remembers those classic 306 George Polley v 351 Barry Lee Hot Rod battles out there, eh? If you recall them then what about the great little racetrack at Cross In Hand? 70 Foxy Dance and 464 Tony May and all the gang! HA HA God, I loved those days. Watch, enjoy and transport yourself back to those golden days too!

  • Glad to know that a few people out there remember the old 'Cross In Hand Days!' Geoff Lampard, now there's a name from the past! HA HA I remember the name and I think you are right about the number. Not sure which formula he was in though? Possibly Stock Cars but could have been Superstox and I seem to recall Geoff being a Blue top. Am I right?

  • Nice to hear from a Spedeworth racing fan, particularly hearing of Cross-in-hand. The best of the Spedeworth circuits, with it`s straights on different levels. I remember, besides the racers themselves, the "run what you brung " laps, where boy racers of the time, raced around the track, against the clock. Many a pride and joy ended up in the wire on the bottom corner. My girlfriend of the time lived at no.2 Stayton Road, so we often wandered up to see Polley and North at work.

  • God Bless You Mr Maybrick

  • I remember George Polly, last saw him at Foxhall Heath at Ipswich years ago. My Godfather is Paul Huggett (Short Circuit Mag.) and my Father was Dave 'Blossom' Packham number 164

  • If you are referring to EJK 421 you are looking at an Austin A35, it's predecessor was the Austin A30 which had the much smaller rear screen.

  • 1:38 best view on it,

what viechle was that does anybody know exactly? I couldn't make it out

  • my friend geoff lampard raced at cross in hand i think he was 303

  • Remember all those stock car days of Cross-in-Hand with affection. Raced a 4 door Austin A35 in Stock Rods in the '70s. Happy days
