There wouldn't have been any Jap fighters left by spring-summer 1945. You forgot the huge columns of smoke from the city that B-29's just leveled, and the carnage their fighter escort wreaked on the outlaying area. Also the kid would have been working at a factory in the middle of the day, making army boots, or helmets or something, he also would have been killed by either the B-29's or the P-51's.
