Smallville is an American television series developed by writer/producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and was initially broadcast by The WB. After its fifth season, the WB and UPN merged to form The CW, which is the current broadcaster for the show in the United States.[1] Smallville premiered on October 16, 2001, and completed its seventh season on May 15, 2008.[2] An eighth season was officially announced by The CW on March 3, 2008.[3] It is filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The plot follows the adventures of a young Clark Kent's life in the fictional town of Smallville, Kansas, during the years before he becomes Superman. The first four seasons focused on Clark and his friends' high school years. Since season five, the show has ventured into more adult settings, with some characters attending college. Recent seasons have seen an increase in the introductions of other DC comic book superheroes and villains.

Smallville inspired an Aquaman spin-off pilot, which was not picked up by The CW network, as well as promotional tie-ins with Verizon, Sprint, Toyota, Stride. In other media, the show has spawned a series of young-adult novels, a DC Comics comic book and soundtrack releases. The show broke the record for highest rated debut for The WB, with 8.4 million viewers tuning in for its pilot episode.

Season seven introduces Clark's biological cousin, Kara (Laura Vandervoort) as a main character of the series. Her storyline focuses on Clark teaching her to blend in to society, controlling her powers, and learning to cope with the destruction of Krypton.[50] Her trust in her father Zor-El inadvertantly causes her to betray Clark.[51] Lana, after faking her own death, begins stalking Lex in order to find incriminating evidence against him.[52] Chloe, who learns she has kryptonite-induced abilities,[53] struggles to keep her power a secret from those around her. Lex's younger brother Julian,[54] who was believed to have been killed in his crib when Lex was a young boy,[55] becomes the new editor of the Daily Planet under the assumed name Grant Gabriel.[53] "Grant" subsequently hires Lois as a new reporter, based on some of the stories she wrote for The Inquisitor,[53] with the two beginning a romantic relationship afterward, until Lex hires someone to kill him after Grant discovers he is only a clone.[56] Clark faces the dual threat from returning villain Brainiac (James Marsters), and Lex's discovery of his father's secret society who possess the means to control Clark. The series also features appearances from veteran Superman actors Dean Cain, Helen Slater and Marc McClure, with DC Comics character Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) also introduced in this season.

Season eight will introduce Davis Bloome/Doomsday and a female named Tess to replace the exit of Lex Luthor from the series. Justin Hartley will reprise his role as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, being upgraded to a series regular.[57] The first episode is set to premiere on The CW on September 18, 2008.

  • I know right, what's up with the episode "Doomsday" having Doomsday only in there for like 2 minutes. Very lame, this season better make up for the shitty season finale. Or at least a proper fight like the Titan fight.

  • Before Tori Spelling, now Brian-Austin Green. This series got a new name: BEVERLYVILLE :)

  • @JustMazlum he did but they wanted him to wear black instead cuz they thought red and blue was silly

  • @DARIUSAKABYRD HE DID BECOME SUPERMAN ON THE FIRST EPISODE OF SEASON 9!!!! and all the way through but in a different version in this version his tights are black and gray and he does not wear glasses and he is not named superman but he is named the blur why did they change the version of superman well because they thought welling would look goofy with glasses and they thought he would look goofy with red and blue tights so he wear gray and black instead and they thought the blur was a silly nm

  • @commentking1000 yes im very happy that clark is now superman in smallville but is called the blur and he will not wear the glasses or the red and blue tights he has already become superman but in black and gray suit and without glassess and he wont have the name superman so if he already has become superman what will happen on the last episode cuz before season 9 they said that he was gonna become superman in the very last episode but they changed it he was superman for the whole of season 9

  • Smallville 90210

  • fridays are better well for some anyway

  • ya i like what there doing with this whole calling him the Blur thing but they should just make it a superman series now i think tom welling could pull it off very well as superman and that would be the perfect thing to have him do when he finally flys

  • He will fly in the end of the Season or at season 10 and he will never wear the Superman outfit.

  • 9 seasons and never change to

    super man !!!
