Wildlife stand-off - A new born calf & 4 hungry lions - Defiant cape buffalo in between them!

Spectacular video from Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania in Africa. A new-born calf barely able to walk, it's mama buffalo and a pack of 4 hungry lions...what is going to be? Is it blood, flesh, hunger OR awesome motherhood & determination? Who is to prevail?

Lions always like to go for the healthiest yet the weakest, The calf in this case.

The reason they give up so easily is because

a) The buffalo is ready to give up its life to protect the calf and will do whatever in its power.

b) The lions get this message, they'd do the same. But for them its just another meal and they are not ready to sustain any injuries which may hinder them from future opportunities to hunt from such a large group of buffalo. Giving up was logical and good tact.
