A new fan edit of the Obi-Wan Kenobi/Darth Vader battle and subsequent escape from the Death Star, featured in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

With the release of the prequel trilogy and new music for the previous battle between these two characters now composed, there is an opportunity to revisit this scene from the original film and score it with the same music. This edit features that music cue, as well as some subtle edits to the duel, with the attempt at making it a more intense fight all round, and hopefully drawing some familiarities to what has now been seen in the earlier episodes.

This clip is a fan edit of an existing scene in the movie and is in no way affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd.

  • i dont get it,why does obi wans body disappear?he should have been sliced in 2 like darth maul

  • @danitabori you get a loose explanation in Revenge Of The Sith, where its explained Qui-Gon Jinn had mastered the ability to return from the "netherworld of the force" after death. Here Yoda says to Obi-Wan that he will teach him how to communicate with Qui-Gon. Therefore, we are to assume that over the period between Episodes 3 and 4, both Yoda and Obi-Wan are taught the same ability, hence why both disappear upon death. That said, the full explanation is mostly Expanded Universe territory.

  • @jitterbugbhoy but how come that anakin can do the same as yoda and obi-wan when clearly anakin had never any contact with qui-gon about returning back into a ghost ?

  • @bigj19881 well anakin doesnt do it by the same methods. its open to interpretation of course, but Lucas' own take on it is that Obi-Wan and Yoda help Anakin live on after his death. it could be to do with the will of the force too. when Anakin sacrifices himself, he essentially saves his soul, and the opportunity is born. the whole thing has always been somewhat loose and ambiguous so you make of it what you want. theres never gonna be a logical, definitive explanation

  • Good job, how dit you get the voices saperatet from the old misic??

  • @BobaTheMandalorian i didn't. there really wasn't any music in the original scene, save for the start and the end of the scene. thanks for watching

  • Amazing! It really does parallel their duel in episode III with the right music.

Can't wait to see more classic duel edits.

  • I love the 'nooooo!' bit for some reason :D Hamill does it well.

  • Sometimes I think if the Original Trilogy has good choreographer for actions part, like saber-duel and shooting, then they'd be perfect.

  • Classic Trilogy>>>> Prequel Trilogy - Episode III

  • Dam fucking HD looks good.

  • @jitterbugbhoy Don't forget that there is a possibility that Palpatine actually upheld his promise and taught Vader how to cheat death when Vader became powerful enough. It woldn't really matter if it wasn't exactly what Palpatine suggested, because Padme was already dead.

  • @KyleKatarn789 Are you kidding? Lucas has to quit messing around with these movies. Did DaVinci come back 30 years later and paint a bigger smile on the Mona Lisa?

  • That one shot Vader's lightsaber orange then pink again. Lucas has to fix that.

  • @jitterbugbhoy Anakin was also the chosen one and created by the midichlorians, he was naturally very powerful perhaps that explains why he became a ghost?
