@123moscowman That's another good point...if you're passionate about learning that religion (and you want to practice it), you could always go to a religious school. And lol, it's crazy right? But how else could Charmander turn into Charmeleon?

It's called the "Theory" of Evolution for a reason... just saying. =P

@Evaxlacrymosa A scientific theory is a set of principles that explain and predict phenomena. Scientists create scientific theories with the scientific method, when they are originally proposed as hypotheses and tested for accuracy through observations and experiments. Once a hypothesis is verified, it becomes a theory. Formal scientific definition of theory is quite different from the everyday meaning.......

and that reason is that it's been verified through years of peer reviewed research. just like cell theory, atom theory, germ theory, and the heliocentric theory.

I don't want to start a huge argument or something, but I need to get this out of the way: One HUGE misconception about the separation of church and state is that a lot of people think it's about keeping religion out of the government, when in fact, it's about keeping the government out of churches. For example, the government can't create a national religion, which corresponds with the 1st Amendment, Freedom of Religion.

The bible also explains a lot of things such as dinosaurs ect... as well, but they don't tell us that in school. :]

@musicismylove92 The world is full of unexplainable things and this is one of them. *Sidenote*I have a friend who her (both of them)parents literally told her that she needed to stop being a lesbian or she was going to hell. Those are the Christians I dont like. I think that should find out for themselves whether or not God really loves them. Thats not something man should dictate because they're not the one giving out that love.
To be a Christian one has to accept the validity of the Jewish god YHWH. Archaeology has taught us much about his evolvement of YHWH from the Canaanite pantheon of El, Asherah & Ba'al (known as the Elohim). YHWH evolved from many into one entity after the Persians kick ed Jewish butt majorly. The Jews then incorporated Zoroastrian ideas into Judaism. The history is there to be found.

@tranceman22 I don't know anything about any of this, but it sounds like something thought out and to consider...people are entitled to accept whatever god or gods they want though.

@musicismylove92 Really? At what cost?Tell that to the children that have died because their parents would rather wait for "divine intervention" than accept medical care. Or the HIV sufferers who have been talked out of a drug program by their preacher. People have been ready to accept the bible as an authoratitave source for millenia. Would you be happy being taught that the Earth was flat? What a waste of time and money to profligate a lie.

@tranceman22 There are a lot of Christians that have common sense. They believe in God but realize that some of what the Bible says is outdated. I'm clearly not a Christian or would ever believe in the Bible, but I think as long as people can integrate scientific and historical facts with beliefs from the Bible, that's fine. If it starts interfering with the rights/safety of others though, like you said, then it's probably going against scientific fact or logic or common sense...

Im a Christian, Im not one of those Christians who say you're going to hell because of being gay. I say God loves everyone and the bible is hard to beleive sometimes. I think an overview of religion is necessary just to inform students of the world we live in. I dont think religion should be forced. I think evolution and Christianity go hand in hand after you get past the initial creation. It can never be proved by anyone or any method so I dont think people should have such a big fuss over it.

@Phoema21 That's an interesting point you have...I think you're right in saying that aside from the initial creation, the two aren't mutually exclusive.
And while I would agree in saying that God loves everyone (based on what I know that seems like the right assumption), I don't think that's the popular opinion of Christians...at least, in my experience.
And of course, you're right, it really will never be fully explained either way, so it shouldn't be such a big deal.
