Natalie Dessay sang "Amina" on her album "La Sonnambula", which I love! However, she didn't go for a high F in "Ah! non giunge uman pensiero". She could have gone for it before surgery, but now the highest that she goes, post-surgery, is a high E. Here I've edited in a high F!

  • @ChrisStockslager Not many appreciate Dessay's unique artistry...however she is not so naive that she doesn't know her limits. In fact, she has said in an interview a few years ago she estimates she has about a decade left of good singing left, precisely why she's tackling all the roles she's always wanted (but never dared) to do. It's her voice...let her be. :)

  • @SsteinwayS Don't think low notes are as important as high notes in a soprano. If they were, she'd be a mezzo. Haha. The thing is, she used to have a freakishly high upper register, that while piercing was very good. I've never been much of a fan of her acting or timbre in general, and now that the higher notes are gone, there's not much left for me to appreciate. :(. I think she should retire, rather than pull a Callas and keep going until her voice gives out.

  • @ChrisStockslager But her low notes are so much better! And now she is singing things I never thought she would ever do: Violetta, Mélisande, Cleopatra, etc. :)

  • @SsteinwayS Shit. Her high notes now sound like shit. Poor girl. :(

  • @pataxinha The Frühlingsstimmenwaltzer by Strauss II!!

  • You got it! :)

  • I guess so! :P

  • well then if she's happy we have no reason of not being so as well xDDDDDDDDDDD
