@ChrisStockslager Not many appreciate Dessay's unique artistry...however she is not so naive that she doesn't know her limits. In fact, she has said in an interview a few years ago she estimates she has about a decade left of good singing left, precisely why she's tackling all the roles she's always wanted (but never dared) to do. It's her voice...let her be. :)

@SsteinwayS Don't think low notes are as important as high notes in a soprano. If they were, she'd be a mezzo. Haha. The thing is, she used to have a freakishly high upper register, that while piercing was very good. I've never been much of a fan of her acting or timbre in general, and now that the higher notes are gone, there's not much left for me to appreciate. :(. I think she should retire, rather than pull a Callas and keep going until her voice gives out.

@ChrisStockslager But her low notes are so much better! And now she is singing things I never thought she would ever do: Violetta, Mélisande, Cleopatra, etc. :)

@SsteinwayS Shit. Her high notes now sound like shit. Poor girl. :(
