also, oh my god, the setlist here. tell me on a sunday, the torch song, alpha gelida, beach house, and spilling toward friggin' alpha? I almost went to this show but instead went to the one in Iowa City a couple days later, where he didn't play any rare gems like that (unless you count, um, quezalcoatl eats plums I guess?) it's really too bad I missed it...

haha, nice to finally hear him explain why he abandoned the more lighthearted feel of some of his earlier songs. after hearing stuff like "the monkey song" and "golden boy" I can't blame him for wanting to avoid a reputation as simply a "funny" songwriter. not to say I don't still love those songs, though...
