  • I think it's funny that they got Eric McCormack, who's suave and sexy, to play him... it's the TOTAL opposite. lol

  • Weird. His German accent is so obvious. How could he have been able to pass himself off as a New Englander?

You can see how practiced he is at deflecting questions about himself. He pretends to be a quircky, passive intellectual, but he uses the conversation to spin his web and play his role. He's Ripley in the flesh - just not as talented.

  • @PeterPiper00 many. but sort of like having all the pieces fall into place afterwards. Greenwich had lots of quirky millionaire WASP types, including Charles Van Doren for example (saw him often).

  • looks like a serial killer

  • @searcherboy My mom's old boss knew him, and she met him once. Her boss was really proud of the fact that he knew a Rockefeller. She said she imagined that a Rockefeller would talk with a bit of pretense in his voice... which it does sound like, doesn't it?

  • @Mystikal22693 Yeah, that's him in a nutshell. Impressive guy, but a total dick at the same time.

  • @PeterPiper00 lol its called being a sociopath

  • You should definitely check out the book, "The Man with the Rockefeller Suit". I couldn't put it down when I read it. There is a lot more detail than the movie. My impression of Rockefeller after reading it was that he was a true genius in some areas, but a total dick in others. He used people and discarded them right and left. He was a control-freak with his daughter, a bully to his wife and to neighbors, and possibly, a murderer (remains to be seen). Still a fascinating character.

  • @Mystikal22693 I do see your point. He had an amazing list of achievements. I don't agree that he learned English by watching. He came to the US speaking English. He improved his accent immensely through listening & practice, something that most people can't manage. On the other hand, there is strong evidence implicating him in the murder of two people in Ca. Murdering people is definitely not cool, to say the least. He also was a real dick to his wife who was footing all the bills.

  • @PeterPiper00 he went from rags to riches. From Nothing to something and fooled and angered the fbi and police department which i hate so much. You gotta look at the other side of things, He also learned fluent english just watching, He kidnapped his daughter because he had no choice. He's like a real life Hannibal Lecter (without the eating).

  • i like how he says together

  • @jnward1 Good to hear from someone who actually knew him. Did you ever suspect at that time that he possibly wasn't being on the level with you? Were there any indications that you can remember?
