Making her final workout prior to the Grade 1 Personal Ensign on Sunday, August 29, Rachel Alexandra breezed four furlongs on the Oklahoma Training Track Monday morning. In addition to footage of the workout itself, this video includes shots of Rachel Alexandra cooling out back at the barn and an interview with trainer Steve Asmussen.

@europeracing So I guess no one wanted any part of Excelsor, Ferdinand, Sunday Silence, Silver Charm, War Emblem and many more champions who have shuttled to various places. So who are the ones over hyping the horse? oh yeah you and duh who are the same accounts, also sweetpnoy, and db. You who have been in the game for how many years should have learned by now anything can go on in horse racing and MTB may win a GR I again.

euroracer you are just WRONG! I guess you will say summer bird, musket man, quality road who was soundly beat by summer bird were awful too..macho again was a very talented horse when on his a game..not consistant but sometimes brilliant.watch his derby trial, preakness stephen fioster..i guess everyone has a short attention span..next folks will be criticizing the great goldikiva because she lost a race or maybe because she only goes a mile..

Rachel was the the most overrated over-hyped eastern-based press horse that I have seen since Easy Goer.
She beat "inferior" horse flesh last year (Macho Again and Mine That Bird). Macho Again is so bad, that the Lexington, KY breeding farms wanted no part of him. Macho Again is currently breeding in Venezuela.
Mine That Bird will never win another Grade I event in his lifetime.

@jaxdeville Rachel is a fabulous horse, but her strengths aren't being exploited by trying to force her to do what is antithetical to her genetics. They tried to put her on a trajectory to win the Breeder's Cup at 10 furlongs. She doesn't have the inherent ability to get the distance. This corresponds w/ her low Tomlinson Distance ratings (Persistently had the highest ratings in the Personal Ensign) and past performances. She's best served running at 8-9 furlongs, where she's dominated.

@BackstretchUnderdog I am sorry if you feel i am disrespecting Rachel, I am NOT!
I believe RA deserved HOY 2009 even though I was pulling for Zen. I dont think after the rough start RA had in 2010 they should be pursuing these kind of distances. My wife and I waited all day to watch RA the only p[roblem is this race was not for her benefit . It is her first Grade 1 of the year and it's farther than she needs to go. She deserves to lose to winners not optional claimers.

@jaxdeville Why do you people dis this horse?

@BackstretchUnderdog---its not if she can or cant, her style does not favor the marathon races. Exploit your strengths and know your weakness.

Who says she CAN'T win? Zenyatta hadn't started before on 1 1/4 before the Breeder's Cup, and that's probably her career best! If Zenyatta, a fantastic mare, can do it, why can't the amazing Rachel?
