Weimaraners are interesting. They are actually a diluted liver color, which comes out gray. The rare "blue" weims derive from a cross with a black dog. And the so-called silver labs are probably weim/Lab mixes (at least originally). Blue is actually diluted black. I don't know where this gray liver color comes from, but I do know that in Germany, it's very common for German shorthairs to have solid liver coats. If only Karl August of Weimar were still alive!
