you must place your clearspot at leat 3 feet away from your other gadgets, i also recommend you use clear USB modem if you are only using your laptop so at least you can personalized your connection,,, :)

i worked previously with clear as an agent and i know how it works, in some reasons you are right that the speed may be slower than what you expected but it also depends on how you use the internet, be always reminded that broadband is wireless and electric interferences may also vary and it can also cause your speed to be getting slow, interferences like other wireless gadgets, electric devices and other stuffs, you must place them at least 3 feet away from your hot spot

2nd option, buy a Hi Gain wifi antenna with an 3000mw inline booster and you can access almost any HIGH SPEED wi fi network near you for FREE ;) use a USB wifi connector, open it up, find the antenna connections, and solder the 2 wires into place from your HiGain external Antenna ..... put USB cover back on PLUG device into your laptop & find your local are connection.

Now you are ready for FREE HIGH SPEED & NO FEES or Monthly FEES ;) 24/7

my guess is it took your neighbors a few days to find your hotspot.....now you are sharing your hotspot with your neighbors.... 6 people x 1 mbps = 6 mbps

try encrypting your connection.

The speed change isn't due to throttling..... it varies according to network usage, The problem is that the network bandwidth lags behind the number of units marketed... they expand capacity.... then the sell more units. So it's a see-saw between engineering and marketing. Also if you use it during off peak hours its much faster, Sit down after supper when everyone gets on the net... and of course it's slow.

Hahaha thats funny...um you should get cox cable, its the fastest, up to 15mbps they dont slow down your service at all. And there is Cox in LA.
