That's b/c Germans don't drive and eat/drink. So they were placed in as an after thought,much like Porsche just recently started to place cupholders in thier cars after years of holding out.

Great review. Better than anything else I could find on this car. I just bought one.

I have one and it is a very nice car, but BMW did a horrible horrible job for the placement of the cup holders. If anyone owns one of these you'll know what I'm talking about. To spend this amount of money on a car and they only give you cup holders that are only on the passengers side of the vehicle and only fit one size cup or bottle. And it can't be a heavy cup or else it will break just like mine did. I know cup holders are a simple thing but very important to a lot of people.

@AnhYeuEm1992 Because of hard acceleration that naturally pushes your body back, it's easier to upshift by going with the force rather than against it. When you're decelerating, your body is pushed forward thus, naturally pushing forward on the stick downshifts.

Also, BMW wanted to emulate the shift style in motorsport racing, I believe.
