Gave this film another shot on Netflix, the ending seemed even more bizarre and uncalled for the second time around.

Not a fan of "Miller's Crossing"? That's one of the Coens' very best films. And it seems that you were completely let down by the ending simply because of the misleading trailer. Well, that's your problem not the films'. You can badmouth the people responsible for "True Grit"'s ad campaighn but you can't badmouth the film itself. A great movie and a great adaptation of the book.

The un-American ending is true life, not Disney Daydream Disease. Far better, such an ending, as now it will not be forgotten. Asian film ending truism has power, not flowers. F the escapism repetitive western film plague.

I don't need a happy ending if that's what you are referring to. Asian film ending? To me this was not an Asian film ending. If you think it was please explain.
But I digress...my main gripe when thinking back is the fake rear screen/green screen stars that (were very Disney in my eyes) and bounced ridiculously as they rode on the horse. Being nit-pickey, but it threw me out.
