  • Hi! Congratulations on your creations! I 've built a micro autogyro using the motor from a Picooz micro heli. My AUW is about 13.4 gr. The motor must have a thrust of about 10-11 gr. Do you think it is enough for flight? The rotor diameter is about 260mm, width 60mm. Also, what angle of incidence do you use for the blades in order to start autorotation easily?

  • Hi!

These are the average spec of my autogyros. Rotor angle is 25 degrees from thrust line. Negative pitch of blade is 5 degrees. Thrust is more than 70% of AUW.

Thrust of your motor is enough for flight, I think.

Larger rotor angle and blades pitch make autorotation

better but make larger drag too.

    Anyway,try to fly it first.

  • I love autogyros and this one is great for a homemade! Looks like it has the "guts" from an AirHogs AeroSoar plane which weighs about 9g. Is this true?

  • Electronics are from

    "Indoor Airplane World e-shop".

You can find it on the web.

  • are the blades flat?

  • ...or do you think I should try a horizontal stabilizer?

  • Insufficient thrust causes rotor to lose rpm and lose lift. Then the engine thrust causes instability and pulls over the autogyro. What do you think? Otherwise I cannot explain why during the first seconds it flies well... Have you ever experienced susch a problem?

  • Hi!

I tried to fly it today. However, I faced with a problem. I launch it by running. Of course I wait till full autorotation rpm. When I release it and for the first seconds it flies well. Then, suddenly, it stops in midair and it pitches up. Then it comes upside down and of course crashes. Instability? I ve checked the CoG. It is ahead of the rotor lift line and above the engine thrust line. I think this causes stability. I ve suspected insufficient thrust from the engine.
