The Use of Avocado On:

the scalp - stimulates hair growth and has healing properties (wounds)

the hair - hydrating and protein benefits for the hair (remember hair is made from keratin which is a protein)

Some Recipes:

Rescue Masks for dry, damaged hair:
Avocado hair mask

Mash the flesh of one ripe avocado. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until creamy and then apply to your hair. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash out with a gentle shampoo.

Olive oil hair mask

Whisk up 5 tablespoons of olive oil it doesn't matter which sort with 2 full eggs. Massage thoroughly into your hair and then cover it with plastic wrap or a shower hat. Your body heat will help the oil to penetrate. Leave for a minimum of 30 minutes and then shampoo out, rinsing well.

Benefits of Olive Oil on Hair:
To repair split ends, make your hair shinier, silkier and more lustrous and even help heal dandruff, massage some olive oil into your scalp and hair, then cover the hair with a plastic cap for at least 30 minutes and then shampoo as usual.

(I would suggest when looking for the right type of oil to use for your hair, use the purest form you can find because it will still have it's original fats and will moisturize your hair well - - While it goes through rigorous purifying processes to become useful as the fluid base for cosmetics, shampoos and moisturizers, *companies dedicated to your good health are keeping olive oil in its purest form by not adding synthetics to their products*.)

Olive oil replaces the moisture and elasticity lost to these elements because it is naturally rich in vitamin E and other powerful antioxidants that have tremendous healing and preserving properties. Olive oil can help restore and retain hair and skin`s health, youthfulness and beauty. Dandruff sufferers find products containing high concentrations of olive oil to be very effective. The purer the olive oil, the more favorable the results.

"If you find you do need some oil, try using some light oils such as jojoba, olive, sweet almond, and coconut oils"

Olive Oil Hair Recipes
Honey & Olive Oil Hair Mask (both for shine and moisture)

Mix 1/2 cup honey and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo well and rinse.

Olive & Jojoba Hot Oil Treatment
Ingredients:
Mix at room temperature

30ml olive oil
Essential Oils:
15ml jojoba oil

5ml sweet almond oil

Method
Place all ingredients in a plastic bowl and place into a larger bowl of very hot water. Test the oil mixture with your finger, when it is quite warm but not hot, apply it generously to your scalp. Pour the remainder directly on your hair. (use on dry to almost dry hair, not wet hair)
Cover your hair with a plastic cap or like I do, wrap some Saran Wrap around your head a few times.
For the next hour, hope no one comes to visit unexpectedly because you need to leave the plastic on your head for at least an hour while the warm oil and your body heat opens the hair cuticle and soaks up the oil.
To rinse out, put shampoo directly on your hair, (don't wet your hair down first) and work into a rich lather. Rinse then continue your routine as normal.

Shea Butter Benefits:
How does Shea Butter benefit my hair?

Shea Butter provides moisture to dry or damaged hair from the roots to the very tips, repairing and protecting against weather damage, dryness and brittleness. It also absorbs quickly and completely into the scalp to rehydrate without clogging pores. It is particularly beneficial for processed and heat-treated hair. It is an excellent treatment for dry scalp. It restores luster to damaged hair.
