  • for nintendo to be whipped by sony at this time is by no means a success..considering both companies relationships with each other, to be beaten by sony was a massive failure.. i believe i said this was a time of great creativity for nintendo as far as their games were concerned...i'm not hating on the n64, i'm just gutted at where they're going now..have you seen the ant n dec ads?

  • @CAVALLIN0 - N64 was nowhere near a failure as you thought it was. You need to do the math. Your hatred for the Wii just consumes you with irrational judgement. Nintendo has always been there for the kids and family. I dunno where you got the idea Nintendo was supposed to abandon their true demographic.

  • what are you talking about? my hatred for the wii? irrational judgement? steady on..all i said was for sony to outsell nintendo with their first home console was highly unexpected..and i praised nintendo aswell..jeez

  • @CAVALLIN0 - Well what do you mean feeling gutted about where they're going? Nintendo decided to stick with their true demographic and not to go in the exact same direction as Sony and Microsoft has. As a result, Nintendo is benefitting from it.

  • only an over protective fanboy would say that nintendo are benefiting from releasing a plethora of shite party games with their 'seal of quality' on the box.. i have a wii with 7 games and 3 of them are gamecube ports..just because they're making tons of money does not make it good.

  • @CAVALLIN0 - ONLY 7 GAMES ??? Dude you must be very hard to please. Nintendo is not in the business for the "hardcore". They never was !! It was us gamers who coined the retro gaming days as "hardcore". Sega tried to please the "hardcore" with all kinds of beefed-up hardware and software . Look where it got them! Nintendo is a toy & game company. They've been in the business to entertain everyone not just the "hardcore". Love it or leave it.

  • To think, everything would've been so different if Nintendo had gone with CDs instead of cartridges.

  • third what? they were a very solid 2nd place everywhere (except japan and only by a few thousands) in the N64 days. Sega was the distant 3rd in that era. it wasn't until the GC era that they really were in the shitter and 3rd place.

also, the NES and SNES weren't that much big in comparison. the SNES sold only 3 more million than the N64 in america (23 vs 20 million sales) and in europe they were only 1 million apart. it was japan where there was a big gap.

    also, not everyone likes RPGs...

  • @CAVALLIN0 Sony? Beating the N64? Ha! Great joke.

  • Reggie is a much better public speaker.

  • Wow, I can still remember how excited I was when I got my Nintendo 64, bundled with Mario 64 and PilotWings64, good times good times.

  • What I find most interesting is that the underpowered consoles have come out on top for over 10 years now. Mid 90s Gen PS1 – 150 million N64 – 32.93 million Saturn – 9 million Early 2000s Gen PS2 – 150 million XBOX – 24 million Gamecube – 21.74 million Current Gen Nintendo Wii – 86.01 million XBOX 360 – 52.7 million PS3 – 50 million.
