  • such a great tip

  • @aaron1640

That "barstool" tip is OK for people who tend to swing straight-legged, with knees that are locked or nearly so, but I basically agree with you--it's one of those "tips" that's really easy to overdo, very quickly. Those kinds of images make the rounds among amateurs who have no idea when they're overdoing something, or what a good move is supposed to look and feel like, and before you know it they're doing exactly what you're saying here.

  • ...And secondly, the relationship of the right shoulder to the ball on the downswing is similar: the right shoulder is simply turning; it doesn't need to be described as "down, out, and forward," as if these were three separate qualities of movement.

  • Not surprised it helps some people--Cook is a good teacher, and besides, almost any tip will help _somebody_--but biomechanically what he's saying is both wrong and too complex. If your right shoulder is turning on the backswing, it should not be sliding in a straight line (as against an imaginary wall). ....

  • This is a solid tip! I have a slight OTT move with my right shoulder.

  • This is a NIFTY little tip. It makes for a crisper contact. Thank you for posting it, KOC.
