All condensors require phantom power. Go with an MXL.

@Th3C4ke Shure sm81 är en mikrofon som är väldigt bra för gitarr. Den ligger på mellan tre och fyra tusen men den låter bra och du kan använda den till mycket.

I use an MXL 991 condenser mic, should I look into buying a different mic?
Also what kind of guitar are you using?

Whats the name of your mic?
I play acoustic finger picking style like Andy McKee, and i'm in need of a recording mic..
I don't sing, just playing the guitar. Is there any special mic that sounds better if you just recording the guitar?
Sorry for my English, i'm just a 15 years old kid from Sweden.. haha

What kind of guitar stand are you using?
What about using the mic` AND the pre amp at the same time..?That way you can use the mic to get as natural a sound as possible and the pre amp signal to add effects or for more extreme EQ settings etc..!Why does nobody mention this technique....?

The reason we didn't cover that is this is a basic introduction for beginners and we only have a few minutes in a podcast.

Thanks for sharing your recording ideas. I was wondering why I was getting so much resonance and bass and alot of unwanted overtones. My mic was not only too close to the sound hole but was placed directly in front of it. Your video will solve my problem.

Really glad this helped. We're trying to be as comprehensive as we can with our tutorials and techniques videos, with new ones releasing every week.
