This video was taken in the early 90's. When this engine returned to Buffalo the smoke box cover was painted silver.

  • Wow, is that classic or what. 1218 backs into Central Terminal at CP 437 to wait for a "sandblasted" Amtrak FL9 to crawl by eastbound before heading down the ex-Buffalo Creek main to the NKP main at CP DRAW. I rode one of those trips, it's a shame the bean counters, lawyers and insurance companies killed them.

  • 1218's smoke box cover looks better painted in silver.

    Today it's painted black.

  • No doubt my favorite locomotive along with 3254.

  • the 1218 belongs back in Virginia. I rode behind on excursion to Roanoke from Richmond in the early90's.

  • This is another vantage point of the Niagara Frontier NRHS trip to Erie, PA.

  • Old timers fest: Amtrak with an F-Unit, Conrail with a GP9 & Norfolk & Western with a steam engine.
