The world's largest coral atol is beautiful from the air with hundreds of colourful lagoons. This is the weekly air service - an Air Pacific flight from Honolulu flying on to Nadi (Fiji). (This service has recently (Sept08) been suspended with the runway in disrepair). This visit was in August 2006. Pity we couldn't get off the plane. There's some traditional Fijian sounds broadcast on the plane and some music from Mogwai.
@seaboo143 That's "Christmas Island". The one in Kiribati in this vid is called "Kiritimati", (Christmas in the i-Kiribati lingo).

Thanks for video, no wonder the runway is in disrepair, it was laid during world war 2 and then used by British as a base for Atomic bomb testing in the area, I was there in 1954. It is located in the Pacific south of the Hawaiian Islands, just north of the equator, was a US/GB owned territory.

@waqasahmed2002 well, its actually far from the USA. it is Australian territory and lies 3000km west northwest of Perth Australia. and is in the Indian ocean.

Re: faroolabjalmak.....
do you even and able to understand what TR was saying? Kiritimati as a stop-over refueling point for some of the big jumbos flying around the air space would be a great idea. Kiribati can get a little revenue from that. Every little bit helps..

The Republic Of Kiribati really need to fix up the runway. So much potential. If they fix it right I think they can accommodate a 747 to land. The revenue that can be brought in through that as stop over point for some of the big jumbos up there flying around the air space.
