I can tell you from first hand experience that I did not black out in that maneuver. I was fortunate enough that I did not black out or GLOC the two years I was flying on the Team. Unfortunately that's what 7.5 g's does to your face and body.

The Tuckaway Cross was removed from the demonstration because it was considered "energy directed at the crowd" and the FAA does not want to have any aircraft have an accident within the confines of the crowd. The FAA is the approving authority for the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds demonstrations as well as the individual service Admiral and General who are over the team in the chain of command. Thanks for asking....

Ghost, the Team no longer does the Tuckaway Cross pointed at the crowd head on. The solos still fly the Opposing Minimum Radius turn but they do the cross pointed away from the crowd in front. I was the Lead solo the year the FAA started discussing this maneuver being removed from the demo.
